hi-res video coming soon a physical container for our subjective restraints video installation, lola festival, victoria park, richmond street, london, ontario, canada - 18-21 september, 2008 originally performed live - london fringe festival 22 july - 6 aug, 2006 this pre-structured routine of what is everyday life continues to restrain and break down the will of the individual to become a part of the machine as it infiltrates almost every aspect of what we see as the building blocks of our continued stability; generating an overwhelming, yet often unseen fear corrupting opportunities for true creative evolution a full sized metal shipping container was dropped into the middle of victoria park to set the stage for an intimate experience. contained inside, a small table with a nokia cel phone connected to the worlds smallest projector from 3M (about the size of the cel phone) and a pair of headphones. once activated the viewer is engaged by the ten by ten foot video projected on to the steel wall in front of them, and the accompanying sound score and spoken word originally performed live at the london fringe festival, race of the rat is a social commentary directed at the structure of most north americans daily lives, and how it effects us as individuals. a contrasting piece with almost soothing thought provoking narration combined with a visual assault of societal imagery director/video artist: michael chapin video installation: andrew francis conceptual consultant ...
